Kalan: Exploring African Ways of Learning Through Dance

On Cue Performance Hub is glad to introduce their artist in residence for 2026-2027, dance artist and choreographer Flany. This is the first of a series of community engagement workshops that she will lead for the public during the year. Each will provide a window into the development of her residency project. In this interactive workshop, Flany invites participants to explore African approaches to learning. Drawing inspiration from Malian traditions of embodied knowledge and apprenticeship, participants will learn simple movement sequences by watching, doing, practicing, and learning from one another.
Through dance, we will explore how movement can carry knowledge, meaning, culture, and connection.
No dance experience required. This will be held in the dance workshop space near the food court at Northgate Mall in Regina.

Multimedia Workshop Session 3 - Danielle Dumelie
Session three - Collaged Zine
A zine is a small art book. Create your own zine and include your ideas, poetry, drawings, or anything else you can think of. Participants will be given images to collage, drawing materials, and free rein to create their own book.

Visual artist and educator Danielle Dumelie will offer a series of three two-hour workshops focused on giving participants an opportunity to explore multiple 2-D and 3-D visual arts media and complete a small project using one or more of these media. These are beginner level hand-on workshops. No prior experience in visual arts is required. All workshops take place in On Cue's workshop space at Northgate Mall, so spaces are limited and registration is requested to avoid disappointment. All ages are welcome so this is a great opportunity for the whole family to explore together. All materials will be provided.
