Dance Saskatchewan, Inc.

It is with pleasure that I write this introduction on behalf of Dance Saskatchewan Inc. (DSI) to the performance, Mothers and Daughters Dancing. DSI is proud to partner once again with On Cue Performance Hub (OCPH) to present and support independent professional and emerging artists and their organizations, Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan and the Leleka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, all members of DSI.

 Dance holds the legacy of our cultural values and creative expression, allowing us to discover ourselves, our emotions, and attitudes in new ways. It can be analogous to the unique relationship of mothers and daughters, often a daughter’s first and most influential female relationship. Mothers serve as role models, teachers, and confidantes, shaping their daughters’ understanding of what it means to be a woman in the world. In the creation of this performance the relationship of mothers and daughters is paramount in the development and presentation of the choreography providing a unique opportunity for mother and daughter to grow as individuals while maintaining a deep connection through dance.
