Have You Seen nikosis? A Performance for Orange Shirt Day
About
This performance of Have You Seen nikosis? is a remounting of a new work created by an artist collective commissioned in 2024 by On Cue Performance Hub to create a response to racism and colonization as part of a year long program called Recreating Community Together. Through visual art, music, dance, storytelling and spoken word poetry this performance focused in on the impacts of residential schools, and struck a chord with the many residential school survivors who along with many other dignitaries and a racially and culturally diverse audience saw the premier performance. The Residential School Survivors Circle and the Circle of Allies have raised the money and organized this remounting which features actor and grandson of a Residential School survivor, Jadav Cyr, spoken word poet, Eric Gabriel; and dancer and improvisational artist, I-Ying Wu. The performance is open to the public with a sharing circle and refreshments to follow. It takes place at Resurrection Parish Hall in Regina on Sept 30 beginning with an observance of the the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (1:00PM) and followed by the performance (2:00PM).
