Not so long ago my Uncle told me the secret to life; shortly after, he had a massive heart attack and died. Within three years, my Grandfather lost his wife and youngest son. He visits my grandmother’s grave and reflects on their life together and his own mortality. Ashes is made up of video, super 8 and 16mm film which were optical printed to 16mm for the final print.
Dianne Ouellette's filmography spans three decades. She embraces analog and digital filmmaking processes as she continues to document family, and history, intertwined with memories in her practice.
