Spoken word poertry workshop with Eric Gabriel
About
Spoken word poet Eric Gabriel will offer two, two-hour workshops for people interested in experimenting with spoken word poetry. For examples Gabriel will draw from his recently published chapbook, Dunes from the Sahara. These workshops are for beginning writers as well as more experienced writers who want to explore a different writing genre. The second workshop builds on the first so participants should plan on taking both workshops to get the most out of them. Space is limited so please register in advance to assure a spot at the writing tables.

Subtle Practice Improvisational Movement Workshop with I-Ying Wu
About
This workshop will be a continuation of I-Ying Wu's March 2026 workshop series and her highly successful production of An End Is Another Beginning in On Cue's Riser Regina festival of new creative work by local artists. Subtle Practice is a somatic improvisation approach inspired by Daoist philosophy. Wu will invite participants to slow down, tune in, and rediscover improvisation as a natural, embodied way of being.
Rather than focusing on technique, choreography, or decision-making, Wu will lead participants to explore improvisation through subtle awareness—listening to sensation, energy, and relationships as they emerge in the moment. Participants are guided to attend gently to inner and surrounding spaces, allowing movement, sound, or stillness to arise organically, without force or expectation.
This workshop will take place in the dance workshop space adjacent to the Northgate Mall food court. Participants are asked to register to avoid disappointment as space is limited.
