About
Visual artist and educator Danielle Dumelie will offer a series of three two-hour workshops focused on giving participants an opportunity to explore multiple 2-D and 3-D visual arts media and complete a small project using one or more of these media. These are beginner level hand-on workshops. No prior experience in visual arts is required. All workshops take place in On Cue's workshop space at Northgate Mall, so spaces are limited and registration is requested to avoid disappointment. Belly Dance Demo & Workshop with Regina's Raks Azhar Dance Troupe
About
TRY BELLY DANCE!
Azura, Annissa, and special guest dancers will teach the art of raks sharqui (better known as belly dance)! During this free drop-in class, you can:
• Try beginner’s belly dance moves
• Learn about the history of belly dance and how it has evolved
• Watch dance performances in various styles
• Find out about upcoming classes
• Maybe even try some veils or other dance props!
This class is suitable for children, youth, and adults, including men, women, and gender-diverse people. People experiencing disabilities are welcome. Please be aware that there will be loud music and lots of movement and sound.
PERFORMANCES, DEMOS, AND DISCUSSION
The class will be interspersed with performances, demonstrations of dance props, and opportunities for questions. From classical performances to the music of the great Egyptian singer Oum Kalsoum, fun sha’abi dance to modern Arabic pop, and folkloric routines to traditional music, you will see a range of belly dance styles.
