The Magic a Director and a Good Stage Manager Bring
As we went into this week. I thought I really cracked the memorization of lines, and in a way I did. However, once you have to do the deed in front of your director and stage manager all of that goes out the window. I tripped and stumbled over words for the first few days. Then all of a sudden, the moves, crosses, props, and furniture start to fall into place and the word start to come as easily as they did when I was doing them in my basement. It is certainly true that writers, me included, never think much about transitions from one scene to the next. You figure that hopefully it will all work out in rehearsal, secretly hoping that the director will work their magic and all will come together. That's why I'm so thankful that Shannon Holmes, my director has an imagination that can solve problems and find the glue that links scenes together. thanks Shannon and thanks to Kaydence Banga, my SM, for being right there on the spot and so organized that everything runs smoothly. I have a great talented team.
