Pooped, but Pumped

Anyone who performs and self produces must know this feeling. I have a small part-time job at Regina Performing Arts Centre, my job as Professional Development Coordinator with On Cue, my producer job for Night Sweats, as well as my now script editing job, and finally my actor who must learn his lines job. This week I had all of that plus friends for Grey Cup, a reading of Paradise Lost at the University and a fundraiser for Night Sweats at the Q Nightclub and Lounge on Saturday. All of this was overlaid with the flu I caught at Grey Cup. DO NOT GO OUT WITHOUT YOUR MASK FRIENDS!

It's tough to keep the wolf from the door, be an artist, get enough rest and still have some fun with friends. But you know as well as I do that by keeping your eye on the prize, you can make it through, knowing there are calmer waters on the other side.

Often the best way to have fun is through combining work with pleasure or by making work pleasurable. Saturday was one of those events. I got caught up with some long-time friends, made some new ones and had a blast sharing the stage with Anita and Juicy, both talented drag artists. I was able to do a short excerpt from the play that elicited gales of laughter from the audience. (Just the confirmation I needed). The GLCR were great hosts and helped out in every way they could. Props to Michelle Tyndall, Nathan Labatt, and Colton for their help in putting this together. And thanks to my team; Shannon Holmes, Kaydence Banga, and Bill Hales, who all seem to have some faith in me.

Brad McDougall

I've done everything from Pantomime to Baroque Opera. It all started in High School when I got involved in musical productions. I was hooked. I started my theatre education at the University of Regina and after a year I took a nearly fifty-year hiatus. During that time I moved to the UK and worked in the West End as well as in the provincial theatres in the following shows: Chicago, Evita, Little Me, Time: the musical, Follies, Sweet Charity, Whose a Lucky Boy, Starting Here Starting Now, as well as various cabarets. I came back to Canada feeling that my muse had deserted me so I got an education that would get me a real job: B.Sc. in biology and M.Sc. in Physical Activity Studies. I worked up north as a Recreation Coordinator for a while and then came back to Regina to work for the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. Finished my theatre degree in 2022 and I'm looking forward to more writing and being back on the boards.
